1. Trim The Wick Every Time You Go To Light It

If you have a brand new candle, look at its wick. It barely raises a couple of millimeters above the wax, right? Well this is the length it should always be. Every time you want to light a candle, first of all, cut its wick between 3 and 6 millimeters long.

2. Let The Wax Melt Completely

The candles have a kind of ‘memory’ and they always burn following the same pattern. Therefore, if the first time it manages to melt evenly without starting any ‘tunnel’, this will configure it to continue melting in the same way later.

4. Bet On Candles With Multiple Wicks

We don’t always have time to get the wax to melt completely. However, this process is accelerated if the candle in question has more than one wick. More flames mean more heat and melt faster and more evenly. However, having more wicks does not mean that the candle will last less time, but quite the opposite, since by preventing the creation of ‘tunnels’, we will be able to enjoy its full potential.

In fact, experts advise that if the candle is more than 7 centimeters in diameter and has a single wick, it is not a good choice. Conclusion: if you like luxury candles always choose them with several wicks.

5. Keep The Candle Away From Any Draft

Air currents influence both the way the flame burns and the burning time. Therefore, they are responsible for the black marks that dirty the glass that contain them and also for the fact that they are consumed sooner than they should. Keep them away from air conditioning, fans, or open windows.
