What Makes A Scented Candle High Quality

What Makes A Scented Candle High Quality

If you are also a big fan of the fact that your house has a special smell and that little flame that surrounds everything with a very cozy aura, write down these tricks to extend the life of your scented candles.

How To Make A Candle Smell Long And Last Longer

1. Trim The Wick Every Time You Go To Light It

If you have a brand new candle, look at its wick. It barely raises a couple of millimeters above the wax, right? Well this is the length it should always be. Every time you want to light a candle, first of all, cut its wick between 3 and 6 millimeters long.

The trimmed highlights, from which a kind of small black mushroom head has been removed, provide a cleaner and brighter light. On the other hand, the wicks that have not been trimmed are one of the main causes of black spots that end up spoiling your glass containers.

2. Let The Wax Melt Completely

Once you’ve lit a candle, don’t blow it out until the top layer of wax has completely melted. Depending on the size of the candle, this can take several hours, so you should try not to light it if you think that this will not happen.

When a candle does not melt completely, a kind of ‘tunnel’ is created in which the wick begins to sink more and more and, over time, the hole is so deep that it is difficult to light it. Likewise, all the infused wax around the rim represents hours of fragrance and burn time that are wasted.

3. When You Release It, Leave It On For Several Hours

If you want the candle to always burn evenly and last as long as possible, you should light it for 2-3 hours the first time. Why? The candles have a kind of ‘memory’ and they always burn following the same pattern. Therefore, if the first time it manages to melt evenly without starting any ‘tunnel’, this will configure it to continue melting in the same way later.

4. Bet On Candles With Multiple Wicks

We don’t always have time to get the wax to melt completely. However, this process is accelerated if the candle in question has more than one wick. More flames mean more heat and melt faster and more evenly. However, having more wicks does not mean that the candle will last less time, but quite the opposite, since by preventing the creation of ‘tunnels’, we will be able to enjoy its full potential.

In fact, experts advise that if the candle is more than 7 centimeters in diameter and has a single wick, it is not a good choice. Conclusion: if you like luxury candles always choose them with several wicks.

5. Keep The Candle Away From Any Draft

Air currents influence both the way the flame burns and the burning time. Therefore, they are responsible for the black marks that dirty the glass that contain them and also for the fact that they are consumed sooner than they should. Keep them away from air conditioning, fans, or open windows.
