Perhaps there’s only one way to really beat the Sunday Scaries: Having yourself a good ol’ Sunday Funday celebration.
So what exactly is a Sunday Funday? It’s when the two best days of the weekend are over, but you are not quite ready to end the party. Instead, people across the U.S. are refusing to let the prospect of a brand new work week get them down, opting to forget about Monday woes and venture into their respective cities.
And let’s be honest, why start fretting the work week before it even starts? If there’s one more chance to have a little fun, why not take it?
A recent analysis from Fashion Nova wanted to dig a bit deeper into what makes a Sunday fun. The apparel company gathered a list of the 50 most populous cities, then judged them on eight must-have Sunday Funday criteria.
Although everyone’s definition of fun varies, they looked at specific social criteria in each city, like the number of music venues, bars, breweries, beer gardens, barcades, bikehsare locations, and brunch spots per 100,000 residents—That’s a lot of B’s.
The researchers also dove into a few different cost analyses, like the most affordable cities for cocktails and Uber rides. Lastly, each city’s walkability score was factored into the overall city scores.
According to that research, Boston was named the best city for a Sunday Funday, scoring a total of 42 points out of a possible 60. Bean Town scored high on the walkability score and boasted a plentiful amount of breweries and music venues.
In second place, Minneapolis excelled at a low average cocktail prices at $11 per drink, as well as 48 brunch spots per capita. In third place, Portland’s cocktail and Uber prices were top notch, but the city’s walkability plummeted the overall score. Following behind were Atlanta and San Francisco.
