How to Apply False Eyelashes for Beginners?

When you walk in the street or go to a party, you can always find that many people have big and beautiful eyes. Actually, falsies or false eyelashes now have been a very common way for individuals to enhance their eyes and make their make-up perfect or give their eyes drama.

If you want to buy eyelashes and are struggling to figure out how to apply false eyelashes, don’t worry. Today, this article will guide you to apply your false eyelashes step by step. Believe me, once you get the hang of it, you will be hooked on it and can also become a pro soon.

False Eyelashes You Choose

Choosing false eyelashes according to our eye shapes and preferences is the most important thing for us. As a beginner, strip lashes were a good choice because they are not only convenient but also let you know whether you like eyelashes.

Materials You Need

False eyelashes

Lash glue

Tweezers

Scissors

A mirror

Q-tip (optional)

Steps To Apply False Eyelashes

Step 1 Curl Your Own Lashes

Getting your natural lashes prepared before applying false ones is essential. In order to make false eyelashes look more natural and real after we apply them, you can put on eyeliner and curl your own lashes first because our eyelashes may not be as curled as false eyelashes. If you leave them uncurled, they may stick out underneath your false lash and affect your makeup.

And after it, you can also add a thin coat of mascara which darkens your lashes and make them keep curled so others can’t tell the difference between your lashes and false ones.

This step is usually of great importance because it would be a very great safeguard even if you do mess up.

Step 2 Get your False eyelashes from Packaging

This step is not difficult for you. You just need to open your false eyelashes package and use a tweezer to remove a pair of false eyelashes from it.

However, there are a few points that need to be noted during this process. You’d better gently go underneath the lash and get as close as you can to the band and slowly work it off the package so that you will not lose the shape and won’t pull any hairs of the lash out. It takes a little patience. I think you don’t want to make them broken.

It’s going to make it much easier for you to apply this way to another lash. So, you just need to repeat that. After you get them off, you can put them down gently on the package or other clean places and start to apply them.

Step 3 Trim Your False Eyelashes

Okay, you’ve done a great job up until now. Now you need to trim your false eyelashes to fit your eyes.

Place the false eyelashes against your eye to see the length. Because most eyelashes are long. One thing to note is that the false lashes should start where your natural lashes start, and if you start too close to the inner corner of your eye, it will irritate your eyes.

Then put the shorter lashes on the inner corner and the longer lashes on the outer corner, and trim the false eyelashes according to the length of the eye. Remember to trim them from the outside edge and don’t cut your lashes. Please make sure the lashes aren’t too long trim.

Step 4 Apply the Lash Glue & Wait

This step seems easy but should not be trifled with because it determines whether you can apply your lashes correctly.

Hold your lashes with a tweezer at the center and dot a thin layer of glue on the band (from corner to corner).

However, putting glue directly on your eyelash band is not recommended for beginners for they don’t know the amount they need to use.

So how can we add just the right amount to the eyelash band? Here are two ways for you.

The first method is to put a drop of glue on the middle of a Q-tip and apply the glue to your eyelash band with the Q-tip.

The second method is to squeeze a little glue on the back of your hand or other clean places and use the back of a tong to apply the glue on the eyelash band.

Both of them are great ways to keep your amount under control.

Don’t forget to apply a little more glue on both ends of the bands. This will help you to keep them in place when you apply them.

After you’ve applied the glue, please wait about 30 seconds for the glue to become slightly tacky. If you directly apply the eyelashes, the lashes will be slippery and difficult to be attached. Allowing the glue to dry slightly can help the lashes stick to your skin without moving. However, don’t wait too long, or they will be completely dry.

Step 5 Apply False eyelashes

Keeping your eyes open can make you apply false lashes successfully. However, beginners sometimes close their eyes subconsciously. Lifting your chin slightly and looking into a mirror downward are helpful.

Then you need to use a tweezer again and pick the eyelashes up and lay them flat between the eyes and near the lash line.

After you adjust them to the place, you can press the lashes against your lash line in the center, outer corner, and inner corner. Holding each corner in place for a few seconds can make sure they are properly anchored.

Remember not to put them on your real eyelashes! Once you pull out your false eyelashes, you may have to pull your real ones out as well.

Step 6 Make Your Eyelashes More Natural

By now, you basically finish the steps of applying lashes. So, what do we have to do in the last step?

Applying lashes for the first time isn’t a simple thing. Sometimes you may make some mistakes or find them a little wonky and unnatural. But you don’t need to take them off and start all over again. These mistakes can be fixed with eyeliner and another coat of mascara.

If your false eyelashes are slightly higher than your natural lash line, press natural lashes and false lashes together as much as possible, then fill in the gaps. If you find them a little bit tilted, add liner on top of the band in an even, thick line. Then you can put on a little mascara to blend your false and real lashes together. One thing to be careful about is not applying mascara too much, just once or twice.

Maybe you will take thirty minutes or more to apply false eyelashes when you first do it, which can be very annoying. But you will soon have beautiful eyelashes in less than five minutes with a lot of practice!
