How To Find The Right Contraceptive Pills For You?
So you have weighed all the birth control options and found that pills are the best ones. Or maybe you are already using the pills but you are trying to switch in order to avoid the side effects you are experiencing from your current pills. Or whatever the situation is. You are wondering which pill is right for you!
As a matter of fact, there are a huge variety of contraceptive pills to choose from – some claim to fight acne, while some boast to prevent hair loss, some purports to reduce the symptoms of PMS while others claim to offer safety against cancer and all have those odd names.
One of pharma’s bright spots has been emerging markets where in recent years percentage growth in sales has caught up to and in many instances galloped ahead of other regions. But with pharmaoffshore companies continuing to pay record civil and criminal fines in the U.S. for illegal marketing practices, recent scrutiny of similar practices abroad raises questions as to whether pharma has simply exported its fraudulent marketing playbook to Europe, Asia, the Middle East and elsewhere.
However, the good news is, there are only two basic types of contraceptive pills and they all have those above-mentioned benefits to offer. Still, the only difference between the two types is in their composition. Scroll down to know which composition you need to have.
Comparing the Two Types of Contraceptive Pills:
The two types of birth control pills include:
#1: Progestin-Only Pills (Mini-Pills or POPs):
Unlike the second kind of contraceptive, POPs or the mini pills are the pills containing only a single active ingredient – the progestin. These are not as effective as other pills containing the combination of estrogen and progestin. The mini pills (available from ukmeds) are prescribed to the women who cannot tolerate estrogen, like women suffering from a migraine, really high blood pressures or women with blood clotting problems.
#2: Combined Pills (Combine Oral Contraceptives or COC):
As mentioned earlier, these pills contain both progestin and estrogen and are considered to be super-effective when it comes to preventing pregnancy. The Combined pills have a unique combination of both the hormones, thus regulating your body without offering much side effects.
So which Contraceptive Pill to use?
As a matter of fact, you have both the kinds of contraceptive pills option for you. Both the pills have their own pros and cons and can affect you in different ways. If you are suffering from a migraine, blood clotting problem or high blood pressures, it is recommended to use mini-pills, but if you can tolerate both the progestin and estrogen, you can have the option for the combined pill. However, it is always a wiser choice to work with your healthcare provider to decide which type of birth control pill is right for you.
