First Lady Michelle Obama ushers in a new phenomenon for fashionable women in the public eye–repeat dresses. Likening herself to millions of Americans distressed in economic disarray, or more simply, the scores of us who never could afford to wear a different dress or blouse each time our girl snaps us for pictures to-be-uploaded on a Facebook page near you.

Seems the fashion press can’t get enough of it. Flashing lights flicker every time the First Lady is seen wearing a remix of a previous look. And we love it! Michelle O demonstrates to us all that dressing is about two things: working with what you have, and imagination.

While we’re sure Michelle O regularly wore repeat looks pre-White House, Mrs. Obama is now the First Lady of the free world who just happens to be sent loads of free designer looks. Can you imagine her closet overflow?

The First Lady’s decision to repeat looks is undoubtedly apart of a soft strategy showing Americans that she identifies with our common struggles. Sporting lavish one-time looks everyday for some, could send the wrong message.

But could our First Lady spark a new Hollywood trend? Are we closer to seeing Beyonce, Zoe Saldana and Rihanna in repeat dresses?

Are repeat styles on a First Lady suitable and not haute on Hollywood starlets? Sound off!

i hope she can spark this trend… it’s all about preservation and conservation and the best place to start is w/ repetition! fashion is driven by vanity and can cause stupidity! buy classic and repeat yo’ ish! Go First Lady!

Excellent! Our 1st lady is leading by example…you don’t have to have flash to be classy. This is true style and a reflection of what American should be striving for…living within our own means and saving.

I love that she wears classic dresses over and over again. I think that is so stupid and vain that the fashion critics and Hollywood practice of you can’t wear a clothing item twice…how stupid is that so your going to have a closet full of clothes you only wore once. How wasteful and superficial! I say kudos to Michelle O. for doing it and hopefully it doesn’t become a trend but a staple in our fashion senses because average women and men already do it
